Chapter 3: The Heir Reclaimed

"It was for the good of the company!" Victoria suddenly shrieked, her elegant facade shattering into a mask of ugly, desperate ambition. "She was a nobody! A waitress! She would have ruined your reputation, William! I built this empire with you!"
"You built nothing!" William roared, his voice shaking the crystal glasses in the cupboards. "You built a throne on the bones of my family! And your reign ends tonight."
He pulled his phone from his pocket, dialing a number with absolute, ruthless precision. "Get me the Chief of Police," William ordered into the receiver, never taking his eyes off his terrified wife. "I have a confession to kidnapping, medical fraud, and conspiracy. Yes. Send a squad car to my estate immediately."
Victoria gasped, dropping her designer handbag. "William, no! You can't do this to me! I am your wife!"
"You are nothing," William replied with freezing indifference. "You have exactly five minutes to pack a single bag before the police arrive. If you ever come near me or my son again, I will ensure you spend the rest of your pathetic life in a concrete cell."
Sobbing hysterically, Victoria turned and fled up the stairs, her empire crumbling into dust beneath her feet.
The heavy, oppressive atmosphere that had choked the Harrington estate for years suddenly broke. The gray clouds outside seemed to part, letting a sliver of moonlight shine through the kitchen window.
William turned back to Oliver, who was watching him with wide, awe-struck eyes. He knelt down again, placing a gentle hand on the boy’s shoulder. Then, he looked up at Claire, who was still trembling by the counter.
"Claire," William said softly, the anger completely gone from his eyes. "You did not turn him away. You risked your job to feed my starving child. You gave him warmth when the world gave him nothing."
"It was the right thing to do, sir," Claire whispered, wiping a tear from her cheek.

"You are no longer a maid in this house," William stated with absolute finality. "From this day forward, you are the head of this household and Oliver's personal guardian. Your salary is quintupled, and you will never scrub another floor as long as you live."
Claire collapsed into tears of shock and gratitude. As William lifted Oliver into his arms, carrying his true heir out of the kitchen and into the warmth of the grand estate, the Harrington mansion finally felt like a home.
