Chapter 8 - The Divorce He Threatened
Alexander filed for divorce three months later.
His attorneys tried to make it look like his decision.
They released a statement describing “irreconcilable differences” and claimed Alexander wished Vivian “healing and privacy.”
Vivian read it once and laughed.
The man who had threatened to divorce her before midnight now wanted the world to believe he had walked away with dignity.
But the divorce proceedings exposed even more.
Alexander had attempted to hide personal assets through offshore accounts.
He had transferred gifts, jewelry, and property into trusts connected to Madison.
He had used Ashford Crown staff to manage private arrangements for the affair.
The judge froze everything.
Madison, now cooperating fully with investigators, returned the bracelet and testified about the false invoices.
Alexander’s attorneys tried to blame Vivian.
“She neglected her husband emotionally,” one lawyer suggested during a hearing.
Vivian looked at him.
“Marriage is not a business contract where betrayal becomes acceptable because a woman stops making a man feel admired.”
The courtroom went silent.
The judge ruled in Vivian’s favor.
Alexander lost his claims to Ashford Crown holdings.
He was ordered to repay stolen foundation funds.
He received no control over the family estate.
And the divorce was finalized without the dramatic victory he had imagined.
Outside the courthouse, Alexander approached Vivian.
“I loved you once,” he said.
Vivian looked at him.
“No,” she replied. “You loved what my silence allowed you to become.”
