Chapter 4 - The True Heir

Victor didn't even look at Jack's mother. He kept his predatory gaze locked on my husband.
"You thought you were a self-made man," Victor murmured, his voice laced with absolute disgust. "You thought Megan was a quiet, dependent housewife you could discard when you got bored. You didn't realize that for ten years, she has been secretly subsidizing your entire pathetic existence so you could feel like a king."
Jack’s face turned the color of wet ash. He looked past Victor, staring at me as if I were a ghost.
"Megan?" Jack whispered, his bravado entirely crushed. "Is... is this true?"
I stepped out from behind Victor, the submissive housewife persona completely shed.
"My name isn't Megan," I said coldly, looking down at the man who had just kissed his mistress in front of me. "It's Natalia Rossi. And you just gave me the perfect excuse to finally go home."
Carol gasped, covering her mouth. Even the blonde mistress took a terrified step back. The Rossi family name commanded absolute terror in Dallas. It was a name associated with immense wealth, untouchable power, and zero mercy.
"The sealed file is fully executed, Natalia," Victor said softly, turning to me, his expression softening into a fierce, territorial devotion. "His assets are frozen, his practice is shuttered, and the IRS will be at his house in an hour to audit a decade of his 'creative' accounting."
"Please," Jack begged, falling to his knees right in the middle of Terminal C, tears spilling down his face. "Natalia, I'm sorry. It was a mistake. She means nothing to me! We have ten years together!"
I looked at the family who had silently conspired to replace me, standing penniless and humiliated in the airport terminal.

"Have a wonderful vacation, Jack," I said.
I turned my back on them and walked away. Victor placed a warm, protective hand on the small of my back, guiding me toward the private aviation terminal, where a jet was already waiting to take the queen of the Rossi empire back to her throne.
