Chapter 5 - The System Reboot
The boardroom descended into absolute chaos.
The acquiring executives were furious, violently tearing up the unsigned contracts and threatening Daniel with massive, crippling lawsuits for fraudulent misrepresentation and corporate espionage. They stormed out of the room, promising to destroy whatever remained of his reputation in the logistics industry.
Sophie didn't stay to comfort the man she supposedly loved. She realized she was now legally implicated in a massive federal fraud scheme. She dropped her leather portfolio, pushed past Daniel without a single word, and sprinted for the elevators, abandoning him to the wreckage.
Daniel was left standing entirely alone at the head of the shattered table. The charismatic CEO was gone, reduced to a weeping, hyperventilating fraud whose entire empire had just been legally and systematically deleted.
“You ruined me,” he choked out, staring at the empty boardroom chairs, tears of pure, humiliated panic streaming down his face. “I have nothing left. The company is worthless without that algorithm. I’ll go to prison.”
“You ruined yourself, Daniel,” I replied, my voice devoid of any pity. “You looked at me and saw a naive housewife carrying a thermos of soup. You forgot that I am the architect of your entire existence.”
I walked out of the boardroom, leaving him to suffocate in the silence of his empty, worthless company. I stepped into the elevator, the doors sliding shut on a marriage that had been nothing more than a parasite feeding on my brilliance.
Six months later, Daniel was indicted by the federal government for gross fiduciary fraud and embezzlement. Hayes & Co. filed for immediate bankruptcy.

I did not attend his sentencing. I was too busy standing in a different boardroom, surrounded by a new team of brilliant, loyal engineers. I had rebranded, restructured, and launched my own logistics firm, taking my proprietary algorithm back to the open market under my own name.
Daniel had fallen asleep holding his mistress, dreaming of an empire he thought he could steal. He never understood that you can never steal a kingdom when the queen is the one who wrote the code.
