Chapter 4 - The Eviction

"I am the owner of this estate," Vaughn stated lethally, stepping out onto the porch and looking down at Brent with absolute disgust.
Brent’s face turned the color of wet ash. "You're... you're lying. My wife owns this property. Tessa!" he screamed toward the windows. "Tessa, what is going on?!"
"Tessa doesn't live here anymore," Vaughn murmured, slipping his hands into his pockets. "She sold this property to me four days ago, approximately two hours after you left her and your newborn daughter freezing in the rain. She is currently resting in a private, heavily guarded penthouse in the city."
Diane nearly fainted. "Sold it? She can't do that! Brent is her husband!"
"Brent," Vaughn corrected, his dark eyes locking onto my ex with a merciless promise of destruction, "is a parasite who has been living off a woman far superior to him. A parasite who is now completely bankrupt."
Brent’s jaw dropped. "What are you talking about?"
"Did you really think Tessa just sold the house?" Vaughn asked softly, a terrifying smile ghosting his lips. "She drained the joint accounts you thought you had access to. She revoked the corporate card you used to pay for that G-Wagon. And this morning, my firm purchased the debt of your failing tech startup."
Brent physically swayed, the reality of his utter ruin crashing down on him. The luxury vacation, the arrogant superiority, the entitled family—it was all completely, instantly vaporized.
"No," Brent begged, tears welling in his eyes as he looked at the imposing billionaire. "Please, let me talk to her. She's my wife. Ivy is my daughter!"
Vaughn closed the distance between them in a single, terrifying stride, towering over Brent.
"If you ever say Tessa's name again, if you ever look in her direction, or if you ever try to come within a hundred miles of that little girl," Vaughn whispered, his voice laced with pure venom, "I won't just ruin your finances, Brent. I will erase you from the face of the earth."
Vaughn snapped his fingers.
The tactical guards stepped forward, grabbing the designer luggage and throwing it aggressively down the stone steps into the mud.

"Get off my property," Vaughn commanded.
Trembling, completely broken, and stripped of every ounce of power he thought he held, Brent dragged his weeping mother and sister back down the driveway on foot, leaving the keys to the G-Wagon exactly where they belonged—in the hands of the man who was now protecting his family.
