Chapter 3 - The Amalfi Mistress

A week later, the true depths of Dante’s humiliation were realized.

Valentina Russo, the beautiful, elegant woman in the red silk dress, had flown to New York. She believed she was arriving to take her rightful place beside the newly divorced king of the Romano empire. She expected penthouses, diamonds, and absolute power.

Instead, she arrived at a dingy safehouse in Queens, the only property Dante had left that hadn't been seized by the feds.

According to the wiretaps my legal team later reviewed in discovery, Valentina’s reaction was spectacularly brutal. When she realized Dante was facing federal indictment and was completely broke, the infatuation evaporated in seconds.

“You told me you ran this city!” Valentina screamed at him in the safehouse. “You told me your wife was a nobody! She just handed you to the FBI, Dante! I’m not going to prison for a bankrupt mobster!”

She didn't just leave him. Valentina, eager to save her own skin and protect her family’s assets in Italy, immediately contacted the federal prosecutors. She offered to testify against Dante, corroborating the evidence I had provided regarding his overseas money laundering, in exchange for full immunity.

The woman he had chosen over the birth of his firstborn son was the exact woman who hammered the final nail into his coffin.
