Chapter 4 - The Ruin of Sophia Whitmore

The divorce was not a battle; it was a total, absolute slaughter.
Sophia hired a vicious, high-priced attorney, fully intending to drag the Whitmore family name through the mud and demand half of Ethan's current assets in alimony. She claimed severe emotional distress and toxic manipulation on Ethan's part.
But Ethan was no longer the blind, devoted husband. He was a man consumed by the need to right the terrible wrong he had committed. He hired the most ruthless corporate litigators in the state. During the initial deposition, Sophia sat across the heavy mahogany table, wearing a designer suit and a smirk, thinking she still had leverage.
Then, Ethan's lead attorney simply pressed play on a laptop. The HD security footage from the study played for the room, clear as day. Sophia ripping her own clothes. Sophia faking the tears. Sophia trying to steal a seventy-five-year-old man's life.
Sophia’s attorney went completely pale, closed his legal pad, and looked at his client with absolute disgust.

"In light of this undeniable evidence of attempted fraud, elder abuse, and extortion," Ethan's lawyer said smoothly, "we are enforcing the moral turpitude clause in the prenuptial agreement. My client is offering zero dollars in alimony, zero dollars in asset division, and we expect you to vacate your temporary apartment by Friday. If you contest this in court, we will hand this flash drive directly to the District Attorney."
Sophia left the building with absolutely nothing. Her high-society friends, having heard the whispers of what she had done, blocked her number. Her country club membership was revoked. Without the Whitmore name and the Whitmore credit cards, she was forced to move back into a cramped, run-down apartment in her hometown, working a minimum-wage retail job just to survive. She had tried to steal an empire, and it had cost her the entire world.
