Part 5: The Boardroom Cleansing

The next morning, the sun broke through the clouds, casting a brilliant, golden light over the downtown Dallas skyline.

I stood at the head of the massive mahogany table in the executive boardroom. The room was packed. Twenty of the most powerful corporate directors, investors, and legal advisors in the state sat in absolute, terrified silence.

I was wearing a sharp, tailored white blazer—a symbol of my restored authority and a stark contrast to the dark, toxic shadows Ethan had cast over this company. Marcus stood faithfully by my side, holding the master ledger.

"Let me be perfectly clear," I announced, my voice slicing through the heavy air. "The era of unchecked arrogance and financial mismanagement is officially over."

I slowly walked down the length of the table, making direct eye contact with every single executive.

"Ethan Harrington treated this company like a personal piggy bank to fund his mother's vanity," I continued. "He weaponized our assets, he betrayed our core values, and he believed that his title made him untouchable. He learned yesterday that he was wrong."

Most of the board members nodded frantically in agreement, eager to align themselves with the winning side. But halfway down the table, an older, grey-haired executive named Richard crossed his arms.

Richard had been Ethan’s primary enabler. He had approved the fraudulent expense reports and helped hide the Cayman accounts.

"Ms. Parker, with all due respect," Richard interrupted, offering a condescending smirk. "Ethan's removal was necessary, yes. But you are a design architect, not a financial titan. Taking over the CEO position permanently? The shareholders are going to demand stability, not a vengeance tour."

The room collectively held its breath.

I didn't yell. I didn't get defensive. I simply smiled—a cold, calculated smile that made Richard’s smirk instantly falter.

"Stability, Richard?" I asked softly, walking over to stand directly behind his heavy leather chair. "You want to talk to me about stability?"

I held out my hand. Marcus immediately placed a thin, black folder into my palm.

I dropped it right in front of Richard.

"This is the internal audit of the overseas procurement division," I said, my voice dropping to a lethal whisper. "The division you have managed for six years. I spent the entire night tracking the phantom invoices you approved. You’ve been skimming two percent off the top of every international shipping contract."

Richard’s face turned the color of ash. "That... that is an outrageous lie!"

"It is a fully documented felony," I corrected him.

I leaned down, resting my hands on the table, trapping him in his seat.

"I am not just taking out the trash, Richard," I whispered, staring directly into his panicked eyes. "I am disinfecting the entire building. You have ten minutes to clear out your office before Marcus hands this folder over to the FBI."

Richard scrambled out of his chair so fast he nearly tripped over his own expensive leather shoes. He didn't say another word. He practically sprinted out of the boardroom, his career completely destroyed in less than sixty seconds.

I stood up straight and looked at the remaining executives.

"Are there any other concerns regarding my qualifications?" I asked.

Nobody moved. Nobody breathed. They simply stared at me with pure, unadulterated respect.

"Good," I said smoothly. "Now, let's get back to work."
