Chapter 5: The Fall of the King

The security guards moved forward, reaching for their weapons.
But Marcus didn't flinch. He reached into his tuxedo jacket and calmly pulled out his phone.
"I'm on a live video feed with my head of private security," Marcus stated, turning the screen toward Arthur. "And he is standing next to the local chief of police. They have heard and recorded every single word you just said."
Arthur froze. The arrogant, untouchable billionaire suddenly turned the color of ash.
In the distance, the faint sound of sirens began to wail. They grew louder with every passing second, speeding up the long private driveway of the estate.
"You overplayed your hand, Arthur," Marcus said quietly. "You thought you could control everyone forever."
Elena didn't even look at her father as his empire crumbled around him. She grabbed the heavy ring of security keys from the panicked guard’s belt. She shoved the key into the lock of the steel door and threw it open.
When the police finally stormed the east wing, they found Arthur in handcuffs on the floor, neutralized by Marcus.

But Elena didn't care about the arrest. She was kneeling on the cold basement concrete, her wedding dress ruined with dust and dirt. She was holding the mother she thought she had lost forever, both of them sobbing in a desperate, unbroken embrace.
The wedding in the ballroom was officially canceled. But for the first time in ten years, Elena’s family was finally whole.
