Chapter 10: The Unbreakable Dynasty

One year later.

The grand ballroom of the Volkov Tower in Manhattan was a breathtaking sanctuary of thousands of white roses, hundreds of floating candles, and a guest list that included politicians, global CEOs, and the true elite of the world’s underworld.

It was the annual Volkov Syndicate Charity Gala, the most exclusive and heavily guarded event of the social season.

I stood on the grand balcony overlooking the glittering lights of the city. The cool autumn air felt refreshing against my skin. I wore a masterpiece of Italian silk, a custom emerald-green gown that hugged my curves and cascaded to the floor. I rested my left hand gently over the prominent swell of my stomach. I was seven months pregnant with our third child.

The journey to this moment had been nothing short of legendary. Following the final destruction of the Barone bloodline, the Volkov empire had not only stabilized; it had dominated the global market. The business world didn't just respect me; they feared me. I was widely regarded as the most powerful woman in the city, the ruthless visionary who operated seamlessly beside the most dangerous man in America.

The heavy glass doors of the balcony slid open.

"Mommy! Daddy said I could have cake!"

Leo and Maya, now five years old, came sprinting onto the balcony. They were a vision of absolute perfection, raised in an environment of total security and unconditional love. Leo wore a miniature tailored tuxedo, looking exactly like his father, while Maya wore a beautiful white dress, her dark hair pinned up with small diamonds.

Behind them, walking with effortless, predatory grace, was Damian.

He was breathtaking in his bespoke black tuxedo, his dark hair perfectly styled, his broad shoulders commanding the massive space. The ruthless billionaire who made grown men tremble vanished entirely the moment he saw his children.

He scooped Maya up into his arms, kissing her cheek, while Leo hugged his leg. Damian’s storm-gray eyes found mine over their heads, shining with a profound, peaceful pride.

"Only one piece of cake," Damian negotiated smoothly with his daughter. "And you must eat your vegetables tomorrow."

"Deal!" Maya giggled, squirming out of his arms to run back inside with her brother.

When the doors clicked shut, leaving us alone on the balcony, Damian walked over to me. He wrapped his strong arms around my waist from behind, pulling me flush against his solid chest. He rested his large, warm hands gently over my stomach, resting his chin on my shoulder.

"She’s kicking," Damian murmured, his voice thick with emotion as he felt the baby move. He turned his head, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to my neck. "How are you feeling tonight, moya lyubov?"

"Powerful," I replied honestly, leaning back into his embrace, resting my hands over his. I traced the heavy platinum wedding band on his finger. "And incredibly happy."

Damian chuckled, a dark, rich sound that vibrated against my back. "The Mayor asked about the new waterfront development permits."

"Tell him the permits will be approved by Tuesday, or we will fund his opponent in the next election," I replied lazily, closing my eyes and enjoying the absolute peace of the moment.

"Ruthless, my Queen," Damian smiled.

"I learned from the best," I said, turning in his arms to face him.

I wrapped my arms around his neck. The ghosts of the past were completely eradicated. The fear, the hiding, the small bakery in Oregon—it was all a lifetime ago. I had taken the absolute worst moment of my life and used it as the foundation to conquer the world.

"I love you, Damian," I whispered, pulling him down for a kiss.

"I love you, Elena," Damian replied, his eyes dark with an all-consuming devotion. "You are my soul. My empire. My everything."

The King and Queen of New York had finally taken their thrones. Our enemies were in ashes, our children were untouchable, and the dynasty we had forged in blood and steel would echo through history forever.
