PART 4: The Trust Fund Conspiracy

Marcus didn't take Lily to a hotel. He took her to his private, highly secured penthouse in the city—a place Cassandra didn't have access to. After drawing a warm bath, wrapping Lily in a plush blanket, and feeding her a proper, warm meal, he sat by her bed until her exhausted breathing finally leveled out into a deep sleep.
Once he was certain she was safe, Marcus walked into his study and locked the door.
The security footage of the dog bowl wasn't just a testament to Cassandra's cruelty. It was a piece of a much darker puzzle. Marcus poured himself a glass of scotch and opened his laptop, pulling up the background check he had his private investigator run on Cassandra that afternoon.
Cassandra didn't just hate Lily. She was terrified of her.
The documents on the screen revealed a mountain of hidden debt. Cassandra’s family was bankrupt, and she owed millions to dangerous creditors. When she manipulated her way into Marcus's life, she thought she had found her ultimate payday. But there was a catch: Marcus’s late wife had set up an ironclad, multi-billion-dollar trust fund. If anything happened to Marcus, 100% of the company and the assets went to Lily.
Cassandra got nothing unless Lily was deemed psychologically unfit and institutionalized, making her stepmother the sole conservator.
She wasn't just bullying a child. She was systematically trying to drive a little girl insane to steal a billionaire's empire.

Marcus’s blood ran colder than ice. The man who had built a global enterprise through ruthless negotiation was gone. In his place sat a fiercely protective father who was about to unleash hell. He picked up his phone and dialed his lead attorney.
"Buy out the debt of Cassandra's family," Marcus ordered, his voice devoid of all emotion. "All of it. And prepare a civil suit for psychological damages. I want her to owe me for the rest of her miserable life."
