Chapter 1: The Name That Changed Everything

The mansion fell into absolute silence.

Santiago stared at the silver-haired man walking through the doorway, surrounded by four security officers dressed in black.

He frowned.

"I'm sorry," Santiago said with forced confidence. "Who let you in?"

The older man ignored him completely.

His eyes landed on me.

They softened instantly.

"My little girl..."

My throat tightened.

For two years I had dreamed of hearing those words again.

"Dad..."

Ricardo Salazar crossed the room in three long strides and knelt beside me despite wearing a suit worth more than most people earned in a year.

His hands trembled as he gently touched the bruise on my cheek.

"They hurt you."

It wasn't a question.

I nodded once.

That single movement shattered the calm expression on his face.

He slowly stood.

Every person in the room felt the temperature drop.

"You hit my daughter."

Santiago laughed nervously.

"There must be some misunderstanding."

"My wife never told me she knew you."

Ricardo looked directly into his eyes.

"She didn't know me."

"She is my daughter."

Beatriz's wineglass slipped from her fingers and exploded across the marble floor.

"No..."

She whispered.

"That's impossible."

Ricardo reached into his jacket and placed a leather folder on the table.

Inside were Valeria's original birth certificate.

Family photographs.

DNA records.

Everything Santiago never bothered to ask about.

His face slowly turned white.

"Valeria... Salazar?"

I looked at him quietly.

"My real name."

"You never asked."

His breathing became uneven.

Every business magazine in Latin America knew the Salazar family.

They owned banks.

Shipping ports.

Construction companies.

Energy projects.

Companies that financed governments.

And for the last five years...

One of those companies had secretly been the Rivas Corporation's biggest lender.

Ricardo smiled.

"You've been threatening the wrong woman."

Then another voice interrupted.

"Sir."

One of Ricardo's assistants handed him a tablet.

"The board meeting has started."

Ricardo glanced at the screen.

May you like

"Excellent."
