Chapter 3: The Woman Who Refused to Break

Three weeks later...

The courthouse overflowed with reporters.

The entire country watched.

Santiago entered wearing an expensive suit.

But no confidence.

The recordings played inside the courtroom.

His own voice echoed through the speakers.

"You'll disappear."

"Nobody will believe you."

"The baby belongs to me."

Gasps filled the room.

Then came Beatriz's voice.

"We'll lock her away after delivery."

The judge removed his glasses.

"I have heard enough."

The psychiatric documents were proven fake.

The doctor's signature had been forged.

The insurance policies had been created through fraud.

Everything collapsed.

One witness after another came forward.

Former employees.

Housekeepers.

Drivers.

Even Santiago's former assistant admitted she had helped hide evidence because she feared losing her job.

At the end of the trial...

The judge awarded me full custody before my son was even born.

Protective orders were issued immediately.

The investigation expanded into Santiago's business dealings.

His empire crumbled faster than anyone imagined.

As officers escorted him away...

He looked at me one last time.

"I loved you."

I met his eyes calmly.

"No."

"You loved owning me."

"And now..."

May you like

"You own nothing."

He lowered his head.
