Chapter 10 - The Stainless Steel Vows

The colossal screens displayed the wire transfer receipts, the IP logs tying the black-market VIA clone network directly to Courtney’s penthouse, and the raw source code of the AI deepfake. Finally, the audio system blasted a crystal-clear recorded phone call of Courtney and Marcus plotting to extort my investors using the fake video.
The entire gala erupted into shocked gasps and furious whispers. The billionaires and executives physically stepped away from Courtney and Marcus, looking at them with absolute, unadulterated disgust.
"You are corporate terrorists," I said, my voice echoing clearly through the silent, captivated room, carrying the weight of an absolute queen. "You used illegal bot farms and AI deepfakes to manipulate the market and attempt to destroy my company."
Courtney glared at me, her chest heaving, her face drained of all color. Marcus looked at the screens, realized they were about to be federally indicted, and literally dropped his champagne glass, backing away from his partner in sheer horror.
"FBI! Nobody move!"
The command thundered through the grand ballroom. From the stairwells and the main entrances, dozens of heavily armed federal agents from the Cyber Crimes Division swarmed the room. Laser sights danced across Marcus’s chest.
"Courtney, Marcus Thorne, you are under arrest for federal wire fraud, corporate espionage, and cyber-extortion," the lead agent announced, violently pulling their arms behind their backs to snap heavy steel handcuffs onto their wrists.
Courtney began sobbing hysterically, her knees buckling as she was dragged across the marble floor. "No! Please! I didn't mean it!"
"You made your choice, Courtney," I said coldly, looking down at the pathetic, broken woman. "Enjoy federal prison."
Six months later, the toxic chaos of Courtney and Marcus was nothing but a footnote in the incredible history of my success. Both were denied bail, ultimately convicted, and sentenced to decades in a federal penitentiary. APT Vietnam skyrocketed to an unprecedented valuation, dominating the international market completely untouched by the failed smear campaign. Our Meta accounts were fully restored and permanently protected.
The crisp spring breeze swept across the sprawling, manicured lawns of our newly completed private estate. I stood on the pristine driveway, looking up at the architectural masterpiece Julian and I had built. The elegant, sweeping mái nhật roof provided a profound sense of grounding and tranquility, a physical manifestation of the unbreakable sanctuary we had fought so hard to protect.
I walked inside, stepping into the warm, glowing heart of the home.
Our twelve-square-meter kitchen was bathed in golden afternoon sunlight. The custom 304 stainless steel cabinets with their sleek, tempered glass doors gleamed flawlessly. It was industrial, beautiful, and completely indestructible. It would never warp, never rot, and never break under pressure.
Julian walked into the kitchen, holding a tray of freshly baked pastries and a bottle of expensive champagne. He set the tray on the stainless steel island and handed me a glass, his eyes radiating absolute love and profound respect.
"We built a fortress," Julian murmured, pouring the wine and looking around the flawless kitchen.
"We built a kingdom," I corrected softly. "The steel and the concrete are just materials. The real foundation is the peace we refused to surrender."
Julian smiled, an overwhelming emotion welling in his gaze. He stepped back, and right there, in the center of our indestructible kitchen, he dropped to one knee.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a sleek velvet box. He opened it, revealing a stunning, flawless emerald-cut diamond that caught the sunlight perfectly.
"I don't just want to fight your battles with you," Julian said, his voice thick with emotion, his dark eyes locked entirely on mine. "I want to celebrate every victory, wake up next to you every morning, and build the rest of my life entirely around you. Will you marry me?"
Tears of pure, unadulterated joy spilled over my eyelashes. I looked at the incredible man kneeling before me, the beautiful home we had designed together, and the vast, unburdened horizon stretching out in front of us.

"Yes," I whispered, pulling him up by the lapels of his sweater. "Yes, Julian. A million times, yes."
He slipped the ring onto my finger and pulled me into a sweeping, passionate kiss. The world around us melted away, leaving only the profound, unbreakable security of the life we had built. The monsters were locked away, the fortress was impregnable, and my world was finally, permanently at peace.
