Chapter 4 - The Dynasty

Brett didn't need to be told twice. He scrambled to his feet, tripping over his own shoes, and sprinted out the service door, leaving his manager's badge sitting on the carpet.

The bodyguards seamlessly retreated, closing the heavy wooden door and leaving us alone in the quiet, candlelit room.

My hands were shaking as the reality of what just happened washed over me. I looked at the most dangerous man in Chicago, a ruthless kingpin who had just bought a multi-million dollar restaurant simply to protect a waitress's dignity.

"You didn't have to do that," I signed, my fingers trembling slightly. "I'm used to them."

Salvatore stood up. He was incredibly tall, his broad shoulders blocking out the ambient light from the chandelier. He stepped around the table, closing the distance between us until he stood just inches away. Gently, he reached out and took my rough, overworked hands in his warm, powerful grip.

He didn't just look at me; he looked into me, stripping away every wall I had ever built.

"You will never get used to disrespect again," Salvatore signed, releasing my hands just long enough to speak, his thumbs brushing over my calloused skin with a fierce, possessive tenderness. "And you will never carry another tray."

"But my brother," I signed frantically with one free hand. "His medical bills. I need this job."

Salvatore's breathtaking smile returned. He gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear, his dark eyes burning with a promise that changed my world forever.

"Bring him to my estate tomorrow," Salvatore signed, his movements slow and full of absolute devotion. "I have the best specialists in the state on my payroll. I have lived in a silent world for a long time, Tessa. But I think I've finally found the one person I want to listen to for the rest of my life."
