Chapter 7: The True Legacy

One year later.

The former Prescott estate no longer existed. Gabriel had kept his word. He didn't just foreclose on the property; he had the massive, pretentious mansion demolished down to the foundation.

In its place now stood The Hope Center for Women and Children.

It was a state-of-the-art sanctuary, fully funded by the Vance Foundation, designed to help single mothers escape abusive and financially controlling environments. Where Vivian used to host toxic society galas, children were now playing safely on the sprawling green lawns.

I stood on the balcony of the new center, cutting the grand opening ribbon as the crowd cheered.

Gabriel stood right beside me, holding my hand. Ethan and Lucas were running around the garden below, laughing wildly as they chased the center's new therapy dog.

"You did this," Gabriel whispered, kissing my temple. "You built an empire out of the ashes they left behind."

I leaned against his chest, feeling the steady, strong beat of his heart. "We did this," I corrected him.

I looked out over the lawn. I thought about the scared girl who had been told she wasn't good enough, who had been chased away in the middle of the night by a cruel mother-in-law and a cowardly fiancé.

That girl was dead. In her place stood Clara Vance. A mother. A CEO. A woman who knew exactly what her worth was.

Julian and Vivian had spent their entire lives worshipping money and status, and in the end, it had left them with absolutely nothing. But as I watched my sons laugh in the sunshine, protected by a man whose strength was matched only by his incredible capacity to love, I knew the ultimate truth.

I had walked away from the Prescott fortune. But I was the one who ended up with everything that truly mattered.
