Chapter 9 - The Harbor Execution

The grand ballroom of the Seaport Hotel was a masterpiece of crystal and velvet, swarming with the most powerful venture capitalists and tech billionaires on the East Coast.

David and I walked through the grand double doors, moving with the unyielding, terrifying confidence of apex predators. We commanded the attention of the entire room.

At exactly 9:00 PM, Arthur Sterling made his entrance. He was a silver-haired, imposing man who radiated toxic privilege. And walking two steps behind him, trying desperately to look like he belonged, was Ethan. He was wearing an ill-fitting rented tuxedo, his eyes scanning the room with manic, desperate triumph.

Ethan spotted me. He sneered, whispering something into Sterling’s ear.

Sterling marched directly toward the main stage, bypassing the security team. He grabbed the microphone from the podium, his voice booming over the speakers, silencing the string quartet.

"Ladies and gentlemen of Boston," Sterling announced, dripping with arrogant victory. "I apologize for the interruption, but the market demands transparency. Tonight, I am officially announcing the acquisition and restructuring of EcoCore. Due to the gross financial mismanagement and outright fraud committed by Claire Donovan, her firm is entirely insolvent."

The crowd gasped. Murmurs rippled through the elite audience. Ethan stepped up onto the stage beside his new master, holding up a silver flash drive.

"We have the internal ledgers," Ethan announced into the microphone, his voice shaking slightly with adrenaline. "Claire lied to her investors. She lied to this entire room. She is a fraud."

I stood in the center of the room, calmly sipping my champagne. I didn't cry. I didn't panic. I gave a subtle, sharp nod to my security team in the production booth.

The massive digital screens behind the stage violently glitched. They didn't display the fake ledgers Ethan had stolen.

They illuminated with the undeniable, raw offshore bank wire receipts. They displayed the IP logs tying the corporate hack directly to Ethan’s cheap studio apartment. And most devastatingly, they played a crystal-clear audio recording of Arthur Sterling authorizing the illegal purchase of our supply chain to commit market manipulation.
