Chapter 4 - The True Visionary

At 4:00 p.m., Ryan burst through the glass doors of Vance Global, the massive luxury conglomerate he had spent seven years desperately trying to outcompete.

He found me in the penthouse executive boardroom, reviewing a global distribution contract.

"Clare!" Ryan shouted, his perfectly styled hair disheveled, tears of absolute panic streaming down his face as he pushed past the receptionist. "You have to stop this! They're recalling the inventory! The banks are seizing the townhouse! Please, I'll kick Evelyn out! I'll give you fifty percent of the company!"

"She already owns a hundred percent of a much better one," a dark, commanding voice echoed from the doorway.

Victor Vance stepped into the boardroom.

Billionaire, industry titan, and the man who had offered to fund my first lab eleven years ago—before Ryan had manipulated me into keeping my genius "in the family." Victor had respected me then. And as I learned when he quietly reached out a year ago, he had never stopped watching.

"Victor," Ryan stammered, his face turning the color of wet ash as he looked between the two of us. "What... what is she doing here?"

Victor walked to my side and gently placed a hand on my shoulder. The touch was completely different from Ryan's—it wasn't a claim of ownership. It was a touch of absolute, unshakable respect.

"Clare is signing the merger that brings her patents exclusively to Vance Global as our new co-CEO," Victor stated lethally. "And since you are bankrupt, trespassing on my property, and currently raising your voice at my fiancée... I suggest you leave."

Ryan’s knees gave out. He collapsed onto the polished marble floor, openly sobbing as the true cost of his betrayal crushed the last breath out of his lungs.

Victor looked down at the ruined man with chilling indifference.

"Security," Victor commanded quietly. "Remove the empty bottle."
