Chapter 6 - The Queen of the BoardSix months later.

The California sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows of my corner office, bathing the sleek, modern space in a warm, golden glow. I stood looking out over the Los Angeles skyline, a cup of artisanal black coffee in my hand.
The transition from a betrayed wife to an untouchable CEO had been remarkably seamless.
Ethan and Diane were currently sitting in separate federal holding facilities, awaiting a trial they had absolutely zero chance of winning. Their defense attorneys had practically begged for a plea deal when my legal team handed over the PyInstaller executables and the FFmpeg video screen recordings of Ethan actively accessing my accounts from his Arizona hotel room. The evidence was bulletproof.
Diane’s Hamptons property was already a memory. True to my word, the demolition team had leveled the mansion in a single afternoon. The massive raft foundation was currently being poured, setting the stage for a highly lucrative, multi-unit luxury complex that would add millions to my portfolio.
My phone buzzed on my desk. It was an alert from my media marketing team.
Since the arrest, I had completely overhauled my company’s digital presence. I wasn't just in commercial real estate anymore; I had launched a highly successful digital ad monetization branch, utilizing advanced AI image generation and aggressive traffic routing to dominate the market. My team was thriving, the profits were staggering, and the toxic weight of Ethan’s secret manipulations had been permanently severed from my life.
The door to my office opened softly. My assistant, Sarah, walked in holding a tablet.
“The quarterly reports are in, Maddie,” she smiled, handing me the device. “We broke our previous record by thirty percent. And the contractors on the Hamptons site just confirmed the Mác 250 concrete grading passed inspection. The foundation is locked.”
“Excellent,” I murmured, handing the tablet back.
In the corner of the office, in a custom-built, ultra-luxury playpen, Noah let out a happy little babble, tossing a plush toy into the air.
I walked over to him, leaning down to scoop my brilliant, beautiful son into my arms. I breathed in the sweet scent of him, feeling a profound sense of peace settle over me.

Ethan had wanted a broken, hysterical woman he could point to as the villain of his story. He wanted an easy mark. Instead, he got a Queen who silently packed his bags, locked the gates, and burned his entire kingdom to the ground.
I looked out at the sprawling city below, holding the only family I would ever need. The nightmare was over. The game was won. And I was exactly where I was always meant to be—on top of the world.
