Chapter 3 - The Friday Boardroom

Friday at 10:00 a.m.
The executive boardroom at Vance Medical was packed.
The CEO, the board of directors, and the final three bidding vendors were present.
Julian stood at the front of the room in his tailored suit.
He looked like a man who owned the world.
Victoria sat at the vendor table, wearing a designer dress and a smug, victorious smile.
Julian cleared his throat and tapped the microphone.
"After months of rigorous evaluation, we have reached a decision," Julian announced.
He spoke about integrity, efficiency, and the future of Vance Medical.
Then he picked up his gold fountain pen.
"I am proud to award the forty-million-dollar contract to Victoria Vance and her firm."
Victoria stood up to polite applause.
Julian signed his name on the bottom of the official award document.
He handed the paperwork to Victoria.
She smiled and reached for the pen to sign her portion.
