Chapter 3 - The Midnight Evacuation

At 2:00 AM, the hospital room became a staging ground.
Agent Jenkins helped me out of the hospital bed. Despite the burning pain of my C-section incision, I felt a surge of pure, unadulterated adrenaline. Two tactical nurses—undercover agents assigned to my detail—carefully lifted Leo and Oliver from their bassinets, securing them in specialized, bulletproof car seats.
"The extraction vehicle is waiting in the underground loading dock," Agent Jenkins whispered, handing me a heavy wool coat. "Your personal belongings have already been transferred to the safe house. We need to be gone before sunrise."
I took one last look at the sterile hospital room. Julian had promised Eleanor that they would come at dawn to take my sons. They had planned to walk in with their high-priced lawyers, present the legally void contract I had signed under duress, and rip my babies from my arms while I wept helplessly.

We slipped down the freight elevator in total silence, bypassing the maternity ward's front desk. By 3:30 AM, my sons and I were miles away, safely tucked into a highly secured federal safe house in the suburbs, surrounded by armed marshals.
