Chapter 10 - Dawn of the QueenThree months later, spring had turned the hills of Blue Ridge into a vibrant, blooming paradise.

The tomato vines had completely overtaken their garden beds and were climbing the wooden fence. Lavender bloomed brilliantly, filling the air with the scent of absolute freedom. All financial charges associated with my name had been officially dismissed by the Department of Justice following the submission of Ethan’s recorded confession. The entire $150 million in the Caymans had been seized by the government, and a third of it was redistributed as restitution for the victims—wired directly into the Danielle Price Fund by court order.

I didn't just get my life back. I had won the war.

It was a crisp, clear weekend morning. I was sitting on the wooden bench on my front porch, holding a steaming mug of chamomile tea, when a sleek, black sports car rolled up to my gate.

Alexander Sterling stepped out. This time, he wasn't wearing the suffocating three-piece suits of Wall Street. He wore a light grey linen shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, paired with dark trousers. He looked slightly less dangerous, but his magnetic, commanding presence was completely undiminished.

He walked up the gravel path, holding a small velvet box in his hand.

"I thought billionaires didn't take days off?" I smiled, not standing up, simply shifting to the side to make room for him on the bench.

"I fired half my executive board last week. I have a lot of free time on my hands," Alexander replied, sitting down next to me. The familiar scent of cedar mixed with the damp earth of Blue Ridge, creating an oddly comforting atmosphere.

Over the last three months, we had fought side-by-side on the legal and media frontlines. Alexander was not like Ethan. He didn't try to protect me like a fragile canary in a cage. He handed me the sword and watched me cut down my own obstacles. His ruthlessness was reserved strictly for our enemies; to me, he offered absolute, unwavering respect.

Alexander placed the velvet box on the wooden table between us.

"I bought Ethan's old corporate headquarters building in New York," Alexander began, his steel-blue eyes looking directly into mine, deep and fiercely sincere. "I want to transfer the deed to the Danielle Price Fund. You can turn it into the largest legal and financial aid center on the East Coast."

I looked at the box, and then back at him. "What is the price, Alexander?"

He laughed, the deep sound rumbling in his chest. He reached out and gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear. It was an incredibly tender gesture, completely contrasting the devilish persona he wore in the boardroom.

"The price is that you allow me to occasionally drive to Blue Ridge to eat the tomatoes you grow," Alexander whispered. He opened the velvet box. It wasn't a flashy, ostentatious engagement ring. It was a platinum brooch shaped like a sprig of lavender, embedded with tiny, exquisitely cut diamonds.

"I don't need a trophy wife," Alexander stated, his gaze unyielding. "I need a partner. A Queen to rule the empire with me. I won't promise to give you the world, Amelia. You already bought your own world. I only promise to stand beside you and protect it."

I looked at the platinum brooch, and then into the eyes of the man sitting beside me. My heart, which had been frozen and fortified behind massive walls of trauma, suddenly beat with the fierce, undeniable rhythm of a new life.

I was no longer the naive eighteen-year-old girl running away from home. I was no longer the silent puppet in the Willow Creek mansion.

I was Amelia. The woman who had walked through the ashes of hell and crowned herself.

I smiled, reaching out to take the brooch, and carefully pinned it to the collar of my shirt.

"Then you better learn to like tomatoes, Alexander," I replied, my eyes shining with confidence and unbreakable pride. "Because at Blue Ridge, I make the rules."

Alexander laughed, pulling me into a kiss. It wasn't a kiss of possession or control. It was a kiss of raw passion, absolute equality, and total freedom.

The morning breeze swept through the garden, carrying the scent of lavender and rain. The ghosts of my past had been entirely incinerated. Before me, under the vast sky of Blue Ridge, there were no castles built on lies and no illusions of toxic love.

There was only the dawn of a Queen. And this empire was going to last forever.
