Chapter 3 - The Illusion of Control

Ignorance is an incredibly dangerous luxury, and Daniel was entirely intoxicated by his own.

For the next two days, while I was meticulously arming a legal nuclear warhead, Daniel was living in a state of supreme, arrogant delusion. According to the digital footprint Marcus was monitoring, Daniel’s first move after I walked out of the house was to attempt to cut off my financial access. He called the bank, trying to cancel my platinum credit cards and freeze our joint checking accounts.

He quickly discovered that he didn't have the administrative clearance to freeze anything. In fact, the bank informed him that his own access to the primary wealth management accounts had been suspended due to "routine security protocols."

Instead of panicking, Daniel’s arrogance merely mutated into irritation. He assumed it was a temporary glitch, or at worst, a petty, emotional tantrum on my part. He actually had his divorce attorney, a slick, aggressive bulldog named Richard Vance, send Marcus a spectacularly insulting email on Monday afternoon.

The email demanded that I return the Aston Martin, formally relinquish all claims to the marital estate in exchange for a paltry, lowball lump-sum settlement, and sign a strict non-disclosure agreement to protect Daniel’s "public reputation." Richard’s email ended with a thinly veiled threat: “Mr. Morgan is prepared to offer a swift resolution. Should your client choose to be difficult, we are fully prepared to litigate the matter of her erratic behavior and mental instability in open court, which would undoubtedly result in a total forfeiture of her assets.”

When Marcus read the email out loud to me in the penthouse, I actually laughed. It was a genuine, melodic sound of pure amusement. Daniel was trying to play chess with a woman who owned the entire board.

On Monday evening, I authorized Marcus to execute the preliminary phase of the strike.

At 6:00 PM, while Daniel and Evelyn were enjoying a catered dinner in my formal dining room, a fleet of high-end moving trucks pulled up to the service entrance of the Gold Coast penthouse where Jessica was currently residing. Armed with a perfectly legal, ironclad eviction notice based on fraudulent corporate purchasing, my private security team bypassed the doorman.

Jessica, the twenty-four-year-old pregnant mistress who thought she had secured a billionaire lifestyle, was given exactly forty-five minutes to pack her personal belongings. The security team systematically confiscated every piece of furniture, every piece of jewelry, and every single item that had been purchased with the stolen corporate funds. When she hysterically tried to call Daniel, the calls went straight to voicemail, because Marcus had initiated a targeted jam on Daniel’s personal cell signal.

She was escorted out of the building in tears, clutching a single suitcase, entirely abandoned by the man who had promised her the world.

Meanwhile, Daniel went to sleep in his sprawling master bedroom, completely unaware that his mistress had been evicted, his accounts had been legally seized, and the board meeting he had called for the following morning would not be his coronation. It would be his execution.

I spent the evening selecting my outfit for the meeting with the precision of a general donning armor. I chose a custom-tailored, razor-sharp crimson suit. It was the color of power. It was the color of the blood he had drawn from my palm.

I was ready to burn his empire to the ground.
