Chapter 6 - The Blueprint of Betrayal

My personal life with Mark was equally magnificent. As a structural engineer, Mark didn't just understand how to build physical foundations; he knew how to rebuild emotional ones. We decided to physically manifest our new beginning by constructing a custom two-story estate in the countryside. We spent countless evenings huddled over blueprints. I was obsessed with the details, insisting on a sweeping Japanese-style mái nhật roof to provide a profound sense of grounding against the coastal winds.
The foundation was officially poured in April, and by early summer, the framing was up.
"I finalized the dimensions for the kitchen," Mark said one crisp Tuesday morning, walking into my home office and setting a cup of espresso on my desk. He unrolled a blueprint, his dark eyes shining with excitement. "Exactly twelve square meters. 4.3 meters long by 2.8 meters wide, just like you wanted."
"And the materials?" I asked, tracing the elegant lines of the drawing. I had spent weeks evaluating cabinetry.
"I rejected the imported Thai MDF and the Picomat plastic boards," Mark confirmed, kissing the top of my head. "We went with the custom 304 stainless steel cabinets with tempered glass doors. It’s industrial, beautiful, and completely indestructible."
"Indestructible," I murmured, leaning back into his solid embrace. "I love the sound of that."
Life was a portrait of absolute perfection. But in the cutthroat world of digital empires, perfection is just a target painted on your back.
Later that afternoon, I walked into the downtown headquarters of APT Vietnam, expecting to review our latest Q3 advertising analytics. Instead, my lead marketing director, Chloe, burst through my heavy oak doors. Her face was the color of chalk, and her hands were trembling violently as she clutched her tablet.
"You need to look at this right now," Chloe gasped, struggling to catch her breath. "It’s a complete bloodbath. Our entire social media infrastructure is collapsing."
I stood up, my blood turning to ice. "What do you mean? Did the algorithm misflag one of our ad campaigns? Submit an appeal."
"No, you don't understand," Chloe’s voice cracked. She placed the tablet on my desk. "It’s not an algorithmic glitch. It’s a targeted digital assassination."
I looked at the screen. The entire Meta Business Manager for APT Vietnam—our Facebook pages, our Instagram, our targeted ad accounts—were completely disabled. Staring back at me was a massive, terrifying red banner across the dashboard: Permanent Account Review Restriction.
There was no appeal button. There was no customer service chat. We had been entirely, irrevocably wiped off the platform. In the digital marketing industry, a permanent Meta lock was a corporate death sentence. We were bleeding hundreds of thousands of dollars in projected revenue by the minute.
Before I could even process the magnitude of the disaster, my private cell phone rang. The caller ID was restricted.
"Hello," I answered, my voice tight.
May you like
"Happy anniversary, sweetheart," a smooth, sickeningly familiar voice sneered through the speaker.
It was Ryan.
