Chapter 3 - The Law Student's LeverageThe silence in the bedroom was absolute, broken only by the distant, rhythmic crashing of the waves against the Palermo cliffs outside the window.

Damiano stared at her. The Sicilian Mafia Boss, a man who had built an entire empire on predicting the treacheries and depravities of corrupt men, realized he had profoundly, catastrophically miscalculated. Senator Philip Moore hadn't sold him a broken, experienced political pawn. He had sacrificed something entirely pure, throwing his innocent daughter into the lion's den without a second thought.

"He sold you blindly," Damiano murmured, dragging a hand through his dark hair. The disgust in his voice was palpable, but it was no longer directed at her. It was aimed entirely at the politician across the ocean who had arranged this transaction.

"Yes, he did," Cassie said, sitting up slowly.

As she pulled the satin bodice back up, the tears stopped. The fragile, terrified bride vanished, replaced by the razor-sharp intellect of a woman who had survived Philip Moore's suffocating house for two decades.

"But he made a fatal mistake," Cassie said, her voice hardening into steel.

Damiano tilted his head, watching her with a new, intense curiosity. "What mistake?"

Cassie slid off the bed and walked over to her unpacked luggage. She bypassed the designer clothes and reached into the bottom of her unassuming leather satchel—the same one she had been carrying outside her father's office two days ago. She unzipped a hidden lining and pulled out a heavy, encrypted solid-state drive.

"My father assumes I am a passive asset. He assumes I am just furniture, existing in the background of his life," Cassie stated, turning back to face the most dangerous man in Sicily. "But I am a law student, Damiano. And for the last three years, while he thought I was reading in his study, I was copying every offshore routing number, every illegal Super PAC contribution, and the digital footprint of every wire fraud transaction that passed through his home network."
