Chapter 4 - The True AllianceDamiano's eyes dropped to the small metal drive in her hand, then flicked back up to her face.

"I didn't come here to be your submissive wife, and I didn't come here to spy on you," Cassie declared, her voice ringing with absolute, unyielding authority. "I got in that car because it was the only way to get this evidence out of United States jurisdiction before his security team realized it was missing. I have the power to systematically dismantle his entire political network and send him to federal prison for the rest of his life."

She held the encrypted drive out to him.

"But I need your syndicate's financial infrastructure to leak it without it being traced back to me," she finished. "That is the real alliance."

Damiano looked at the hard drive, processing the absolute, staggering magnitude of what she was offering. The cold, mechanical arrangement he had prepared himself for evaporated entirely. He wasn't looking at a hostage anymore. He wasn't looking at a naive collateral asset. He was looking at a brilliant, vengeful equal who had weaponized her own forced marriage.

A slow, dark smile curved his lips—the first genuine expression Cassie had seen on his face since they met at the altar.

"An alliance," Damiano said softly, the word no longer an abstract business term, but a lethal promise.

"An alliance," Cassie confirmed, her chin lifting with fierce pride.

Damiano reached out and took the drive, tossing it carelessly onto the nightstand. He didn't care about the data in that moment; he cared about the woman who had possessed the sheer nerve to steal it.
