Chapter 1: The Mastermind Behind the Wedding Dress

The flashing lights of the media slowly faded behind the police station doors. I sat across from Isabella—the woman who, just hours ago, was the most radiant bride in high society, now wearing a crumpled wedding dress, her hands tightly handcuffed to the cold aluminum table.

The panic on her face had vanished, replaced by a savage, mocking smirk.

"Do you think handcuffing me is the end, Victor?" Isabella tilted her head, her piercing eyes staring right through me. "You are still as naive as the day we first met."

I slammed the stack of documents onto the table, my voice hissing through gritted teeth: "Who is your accomplice? Answer me right now! You couldn't have bypassed the family's three-tier security system alone to slip Dioxin into my glass!"

Isabella burst into laughter, the sound echoing in the cramped interrogation room.

"Yes, I didn't do it alone. But do you really think I would sell him out? When you collapsed in a pool of your own blood, that massive fortune would have been split in two. The plan failed now, but he is still safe. As for you... you will never know who the real enemy sleeping under the same roof as you is."

She leaned in close to my face, emphasizing every word: "Beware of those who always pat your back and call you 'Family'."

A chill ran down my spine. Isabella’s words pierced my mind like a blade. The interrogation room door opened, and her lawyer walked in. I turned and walked away, the shadows of doubt beginning to surround the empire I ruled.
