Chapter 3: The Purge in the Closed Boardroom

The next morning, the 88th-floor boardroom of the Corporation was engulfed in a suffocating atmosphere. Julian was standing at the head of the table—the seat that rightfully belonged to me. He wore a mournful black suit, perfectly playing the role of a grieving brother.
"Distinguished shareholders," Julian spoke with a fake, choked-up voice. "The horrifying incident at the wedding yesterday has severely traumatized my brother. For the future of the corporation, I request to temporarily take over the position of Acting Chairman..."
"It is not your turn to sit in that chair yet, Julian."
The oak doors were kicked open. I walked in, much to the astonishment of dozens of board members. Right behind me was Anna, dressed in a neat suit, flanked by two economic crime investigators.
Julian's face lost its color, his half-smirk freezing in place. "V-Victor, you should be resting at home. You are not in your right mind."
I took slow, deliberate steps toward him, slamming a stack of documents onto the glass table.
"Not in my right mind? Or are you just disappointed that I am still standing here to expose the illegal share transfer contract you drafted with Isabella?"
Julian took a step back, sweat beading on his forehead: "What nonsense are you talking about? This is slander!"
I turned to Anna. She stepped forward and placed a micro-recorder on the table—the one she had quick-wittedly slipped from Isabella’s coat pocket while helping her in the makeup room. The tape played Julian's crystal-clear voice: "As long as he dies, you play the pathetic widow, and I will take over the board. Do not mess this up, Isabella."
The entire boardroom gasped in horror. Julian fell to his knees, his eyes filled with panic as the police officers approached him with cold handcuffs.

I leaned down and whispered into the ear of my traitorous brother: "You lose. You can buy a bride with money and greed, but you can never buy the loyalty of those who live with kindness."
Julian was escorted away amidst furious whispers. The room gradually fell silent. I turned to look at Anna—the girl with a humble background who carried the courage to save an entire empire. The nightmare was over, and this was the moment my reign was truly reborn.
