Chapter 17 - The Shadow TrafficYou do not fight a billionaire predator by playing defense. By the time you issue a press release denying the allegations, the public has already convicted you, and the vultures are already picking at your bones.

By midnight, my sprawling suburban home had been transformed into a militarized cyber-intelligence bunker. Nolan was safely asleep upstairs, completely shielded from the corporate warfare unfolding in the living room. Arthur Vance—my brilliant, ruthlessly effective civil rights attorney—sat at my dining table alongside Elias, a top-tier cyber-forensics hacker we kept on retainer.

"The viral spread of these videos is mathematically impossible for organic growth, even for a perfectly engineered virtual KOC," Elias explained, projecting the data onto my living room smart-screen. "Slink’s marketing division is forcing this campaign down the throat of the internet. But they aren't using traditional ad buys."

"Show me," I commanded, pacing the hardwood floor in my bare feet, a mug of black coffee in my hand.

"They are executing a massive, coordinated Facebook ad campaign," Elias pointed to a sprawling, complex web of data nodes. "But to bypass Facebook’s strict defamation filters, Slink is writing highly manipulative ad content and buying traffic exclusively from websites that have already been rejected by Google advertising."

My eyes widened as I processed the sheer, malicious genius of the strategy. "They are purchasing cheap, black-market traffic from shadow sites, funneling it through secondary landing pages that technically comply with Facebook standards, and weaponizing it to artificially inflate the KOC’s videos."

"Exactly," Arthur growled, his jaw locking into a rigid line. "It’s a digital money-laundering scheme for web traffic. They are bypassing the standard ethical guidelines to flood the platform with millions of fake, hyper-targeted views, starving your reputation into submission."

"If the board sees these metrics tomorrow morning, they will panic," I said, leaning over the table, my mind racing. "Victoria Vance is going to use the manufactured outrage to demand my resignation and force a firesale of the pediatric research division to Slink."

"We can file for an emergency federal injunction against Slink," Arthur offered, though he looked doubtful. "But tracing the shadow traffic directly to Victoria’s personal authorization will take months of discovery."

"We don't have months. We have hours," I whispered, the adrenaline flooding my system. I looked up at the glass shadow box on my wall, at the faded navy shirt that had given me my magic armor. I had fought too hard and bled too much to let a Silicon Valley sociopath steal my sanctuary.

"We aren't going to fight her in court," I said softly, a dark, terrifying smile spreading across my face. "Victoria is relying on the illusion that her virtual KOC is an independent whistleblower. If the public finds out she is a corporate puppet powered by illegal shadow traffic, the backlash will destroy Slink entirely."

"How do we prove it?" Elias asked, radiating lethal energy.

"We don't just prove it," I replied, grabbing my coat. "We let the puppet cut its own strings."
