Chapter 1 - The Silver Star Command

The silence on the upper deck was absolute. The Mediterranean wind suddenly felt like the only thing moving in the world. Captain Adrien Laurent, a man who commanded the respect of billionaires, royalty, and global politicians, knelt on the polished teak deck, bowing his head in a gesture of profound, undeniable submission. He unbuttoned his pristine white naval jacket, ignoring the gold epaulets that marked his high rank, and held the heavy fabric up to cover my torn silk dress.

Cassandra’s hand holding the phone began to visibly tremble. Her perfectly contoured face drained of all color, the cruel, triumphant smirk replaced by a mask of sheer, unadulterated confusion.

“My deepest apologies, Miss Sterling,” Adrien said, his voice echoing over the hushed crowd. “I was not informed that the owner of the fleet was coming aboard tonight. We failed to secure the upper deck for your arrival.”

The collective gasp from the surrounding elite was loud enough to drown out the ocean.

Cassandra stumbled backward, her red-soled heel catching on the brass railing. “Owner?” she squeaked, her voice cracking, completely forgetting that her livestream was still broadcasting to over a hundred thousand people. “Captain, you’re mistaken. This girl is a nobody. She snuck on!”

I pulled Adrien’s crisp jacket over my shoulders, concealing the tear in my dress, and finally looked Cassandra directly in the eyes. The warmth of the captain’s coat was a stark contrast to the ice in my veins.

“The silver star embedded in the deck,” I said, my voice steady, smooth, and terrifyingly calm. “It isn't just a decorative emblem, Cassandra. It’s the crest of the Sterling Maritime Group. It’s the crest of my family. I didn't sneak onto this yacht. I was born on it.”

Cassandra’s phone slipped in her sweaty grip. On the screen, the comment section was exploding. The same followers who had just been cheering for my removal were now flooding the feed with absolute panic and mockery. They realized exactly who I was before she did. Elena Sterling. The invisible heir to a fifty-billion-dollar global shipping and luxury yacht empire. I notoriously avoided the press, hated the spotlight, and preferred to run the corporate acquisitions department from the shadows.

“You… you can’t be,” Cassandra stammered, frantically looking at the other guests for backup. But the wealthy socialites and tycoons, who had been laughing along with her mere minutes ago, were now physically stepping away from her, desperate to distance themselves from the woman who had just assaulted the owner of the ship.

“Adrien,” I said, not taking my eyes off Cassandra.

The captain stood up instantly, his posture rigid and protective. “Yes, Miss Sterling.”

“This guest has assaulted me, destroyed my property, and caused a severe security disturbance,” I instructed calmly. “Cut the Wi-Fi on the upper deck. Confiscate her phone until we reach the port to ensure she hasn't compromised maritime security protocols. And then, throw her off my ship.”

“Wait! No! You can’t take my phone, I’m an influencer!” Cassandra shrieked, finally breaking out of her shock. She tried to step around Adrien, reaching out as if to grab my arm, but two massive maritime security guards materialized from the stairwell. They intercepted her instantly, grabbing her by her elbows.

“I have three million followers!” she screamed, kicking her legs as they dragged her toward the service stairs. “Do you know who I am?! I will ruin you! I will ruin this entire company!”

I walked to the railing and looked down at her as she was wrestled away. “You already ruined yourself, Cassandra. I’m just providing the documentation.”
