Chapter 14 - The Ground Zero AmbushSilas expected us to panic. He expected Jack to show up at his glittering corporate boardroom in New York, begging for a financial extension. He severely underestimated the woman standing beside the builder.

I didn't send lawyers. I brought an execution squad.
Armed with Jack’s proprietary 3D structural mapping, the original geological core samples, and the digital intel Liam had forwarded to my encrypted tablet, we bypassed the local authorities entirely. We drove straight to the luxury ski resort in Big Sky where Silas Croft was hosting a closed-door luncheon with his banking syndicate partners.
I marched into the private, glass-walled dining room wearing my trench coat and stiletto boots, flanked by Jack and two heavily armed private security contractors we kept on retainer.
Silas was holding a crystal glass of scotch, laughing with a European investor. When he saw us, his smug smile faltered.
"Harper? Jack? What is the meaning of this?" Silas demanded, trying to maintain his aristocratic composure as the room fell dead silent. "You are trespassing."
"I don't trespass, Silas. I conquer," I said, my voice echoing with crystal-clear authority across the opulent room. I threw a thick, red-tabbed dossier directly onto the white linen tablecloth.
"What is this garbage?" Silas hissed, glancing nervously at his investors.
"That is the unredacted offshore banking ledger our cyber-investigators just pulled from your personal Cayman accounts," I announced, delivering the fatal blow. "It shows a wire transfer of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars made exactly twelve hours ago to the county inspector who just shut down my husband's construction site."
The European investor’s face drained of every drop of color. He physically stepped away from Silas.
"You forged those documents!" Silas yelled, his face turning a violent shade of purple, the refined billionaire act completely shattering.
"I also brought the structural analysis," I continued smoothly, ignoring his panic. "The foundation type you claimed was unstable? I had it verified this morning by the head of civil engineering at MIT and the federal geological commission. The math is flawless. You didn't shut down our site because of safety, Silas. You committed corporate extortion and bribed a public official to force a default on a billion-dollar loan."
Silas staggered backward, dropping his scotch glass. It shattered on the hardwood floor. He realized, in a single, horrifying microsecond, that he had picked a fight with a woman who specialized in surviving total destruction.

"My team forwarded those ledgers to the FBI, the SEC, and the Federal Banking Authority ten minutes ago," Jack rumbled, stepping forward, radiating pure, unadulterated menace that forced Silas into a corner.
"You are going to call your bought inspector right now," I whispered, stepping entirely into Silas's personal space. "You are going to lift the stop-work order. And then you are going to authorize the immediate release of the next phase of our loan. If you don't, you won't just lose your position at the syndicate. You will spend the next twenty years in a federal penitentiary."
