Chapter 9 - The Boardroom ExecutionThe ensuing firefight was a masterclass in tactical defense. Adrian used the indestructible steel counters of the twelve-square-meter kitchen as ballistic cover, neutralizing three of the mercenaries before they even knew where the shots were coming from. By the time the local police—alerted by the estate's silent alarms—swarmed the property, the remaining hitmen had surrendered, terrified of the invisible ghost hunting them in the dark.

The physical threat was neutralized, but Adrian was not satisfied with survival. He wanted absolute, permanent eradication.
The mercenaries’ encrypted communications revealed the identity of the shadow investor who had facilitated Marcus’s hit job: Richard Vance, a powerful, corrupt venture capitalist who sat on the board of a rival infrastructure firm in Boston.
Forty-eight hours later, Richard Vance sat at the head of his glass-walled boardroom in downtown Boston, sipping expensive scotch and assuring his panicked partners that they were completely insulated from the failed raid.
The heavy oak doors of the boardroom swung open.
Adrian walked in. He wasn't wearing tactical gear. He wore a razor-sharp, bespoke midnight-blue suit. He looked like the untouchable king of the city. Behind him walked Marissa, wearing a tailored crimson dress, projecting an aura of lethal, unshakeable power.
"Whitmore," Richard choked out, dropping his scotch glass, the amber liquid spilling across the mahogany table. "Security! Get them out of here!"
"Security isn't coming, Richard," Adrian said, pulling out a chair at the opposite end of the table and sitting down with casual, terrifying grace. "Because the FBI is currently arresting your head of security in the lobby for conspiracy to commit murder."
Richard’s face drained of all color. The other board members scrambled backward in their chairs.
"You routed four million dollars to a digital syndicate to frame my foundation, and when that failed, you sent a hit squad to my home," Adrian stated, sliding a thick, red-sealed federal dossier across the long table. "The mercenaries you hired traded your name for a plea deal at three o'clock this morning."
"You have no proof!" Richard shrieked, his pristine corporate facade shattering into raw panic.

"We don't need proof," Marissa stepped forward, her voice echoing with absolute authority. "We have your bank records. We have the offshore ledgers. And we have the federal arrest warrants."
Right on cue, the side doors of the executive suite opened, and half a dozen armed federal agents flooded the room.
