Chapter 8 - The Bait and the BoardroomWe didn't just have evidence; we had a loaded digital weapon. But to maximize the destruction of Silas’s empire and ensure Richard’s permanent downfall, the execution had to be public.

I knew Silas Vance was a creature of immense ego. He was preparing to host a massive, highly publicized investment gala for his latest offshore joint venture, APT Vietnam, a luxury commercial real estate project designed to attract elite American investors. The gala was being held at the St. Regis in San Francisco, and half of Silicon Valley would be in attendance.
I pulled every string I had, leveraging my new consulting firm’s immense capital to quietly secure a VIP platinum table under a corporate shell name.
On the night of the gala, the ballroom was a masterpiece of opulence. Crystal chandeliers cast a dazzling light over hundreds of tech moguls and billionaires. I walked through the grand double doors wearing a backless, midnight-blue silk gown that commanded the attention of the entire room. Julian and Charlotte flanked me, radiating absolute, unbothered power.
Silas spotted us immediately. He was standing near the champagne fountain with Valerie on his arm, and Richard hovering nervously behind them like an obedient lapdog.
Silas’s smug smile vanished. He whispered something to his security detail, but before they could move, I walked directly into his path.
"Elena," Silas hissed, his polished charm completely evaporating. "You are trespassing. After the scandal surrounding your son-in-law, you shouldn't even show your faces in a reputable room."
"My son-in-law’s company just secured their Series B funding this morning, Silas," I replied loudly enough for the surrounding VIPs to hear. "We came to celebrate. And to return a favor."
Richard stepped forward, his face pale and sweating. "Elena, you need to leave. You don't belong here."
"I belong exactly where I am, Richard," I said, my voice dropping to a lethal whisper. "But you are about to lose everything. Again."

I raised my hand and gave a subtle signal to Julian.
In the production booth overlooking the ballroom, Julian’s lead software engineer plugged a flash drive into the main AV console. Instantly, the massive digital projection screens surrounding the gala—which were supposed to display the APT Vietnam investment portfolios—violently shifted.
