Chapter 4 - The Realization

Alistair stared at the man standing beside his wife.

No, not his wife.

The divorce papers had been finalized in absentia three years ago.

David looked at Alistair, recognizing the expensive coat and the pale gray eyes that matched the boy in the back room.

But David didn’t look intimidated.

He looked like a man who knew exactly what he possessed.

“Leo’s boat is finished,” David said quietly to Cecilia. “He’s going to love it.”

Alistair felt a pain in his chest sharper than any blade.

He had billions of dollars.

He had power.

He had influence.

But this man had the one thing Alistair had thrown away on a writing desk five years ago.

A family.

“Cecilia,” Alistair pleaded, his voice breaking. “Please. Let me fix this.”

“You can’t fix glass by stepping on it, Alistair,” she said softly.
