Chapter 5 - The Heir's Resurrection

The storm broke just after dawn, leaving the Caribbean sky a brilliant, bruised purple. The sea was calm, like glass, as if the ocean itself was apologizing for the violence of the night before. I sat on the plush white sofas of the grand salon, sipping a hot cup of Earl Grey tea, wrapped in a thick cashmere blanket.

Through the panoramic windows, I watched the approach of a heavily armed United States Coast Guard cutter, flanked by a private helicopter bearing the Sterling corporate logo. Marcus, my father’s security chief, had moved heaven and earth to get them here by sunrise.

The boarding was swift and highly tactical. Armed agents swarmed the yacht, securing the perimeter. Marcus stepped into the grand salon first, his suit crisp, his face set in stone. When he saw me unharmed, a flicker of profound relief crossed his eyes.

"Your parents are safe, Savannah," Marcus said, his voice a comforting rumble. "We intercepted Flynn's men three miles from the mountain lodge. They confessed to the contract hit the moment we applied... pressure. The FBI is taking over the mainland investigation."

"And the rats in the hold?" I asked, taking another sip of tea.

"The Coast Guard is dragging them up now," Marcus replied, a dark smile playing on his lips.

I stood up, walking out onto the main deck just as Flynn, Aidan, and Fiona were hauled up from the freezing storage lockers. They were shivering, drenched, and looked absolutely pathetic in their ruined luxury clothes. As federal agents read them their rights and informed them of the charges—conspiracy to commit murder, wire fraud, attempted murder—Flynn locked eyes with me one last time.

There was no charm left. There was no arrogance. There was only the absolute, soul-crushing realization that he had gambled his entire life and lost spectacularly.

"You ruined me," Flynn spat, a desperate tear escaping his eye as an agent shoved him toward the boarding ramp.

"No, Flynn," I replied, standing tall against the morning breeze. "You ruined yourself. You thought you were marrying a victim. You didn't realize you were stepping into a trap built by a woman who owns the ocean."

I watched as the Coast Guard vessel pulled away, taking the trash off my beautiful ship. The horizon was bright, golden, and clear. I took a deep breath, the Caribbean air finally tasting exactly like a happily-ever-after, and turned back to the helm. I had an empire to run, and for the first time in my life, I knew exactly how to steer the ship.
