Chapter 3 - The Eviction

The next morning, Evan, Marissa, and Diane were sitting at my custom-built kitchen island, drinking coffee and discussing paint swatches for the nursery. According to the security cameras I still had full administrative access to, they were laughing, entirely completely intoxicated by their own cruel victory.
At exactly 8:00 AM, a fleet of three black SUVs pulled into the driveway.
Four armed, private security contractors stepped out, accompanied by two uniformed sheriff's deputies and a property management executive holding a thick stack of legal documents. They didn't knock politely. They pounded on the heavy oak front doors with enough force to shake the frame.
Evan opened the door, wearing his expensive silk robe, an irritated scowl on his face. "What is this? Who are you?"
"Evan Mitchell?" the sheriff's deputy asked, stepping into the foyer.
"Yes, I own this house. You are trespassing," Evan demanded, puffing out his chest.
"You do not own this house, sir," the property manager interrupted, shoving a certified legal document directly into Evan's chest. "This property is exclusively owned by the Bennett Family Trust. The primary beneficiary, Claire Mitchell, has officially terminated your status as a tenant-at-will. You, along with any unauthorized occupants, are being served with an emergency, immediate eviction notice due to documented infidelity triggering the prenuptial forfeiture clause."
Marissa and Diane ran into the foyer, their faces draining of color as they saw the armed guards.
"What is he talking about, Evan?!" Marissa shrieked, clutching her robe. "You said this was your house! You said you paid for it!"
"I... I pay the utility bills!" Evan stammered, frantically scanning the legal jargon on the eviction notice, his arrogant facade completely shattering. "My wife is having a breakdown! She can't just kick me out!"
"Your wife is the sole proprietor of this estate," the deputy stated coldly. "And you have exactly thirty minutes to pack a single bag of personal necessities and vacate the premises. If you are not off the property by 8:30 AM, you will be arrested for criminal trespassing."

Diane gasped, clutching her chest as if she were having a heart attack. "This is a mistake! My son is a highly respected executive! We are hosting a brunch here tomorrow!"
"You aren't hosting anything, ma'am," the property manager replied, signaling the security team to step into the house. "You have twenty-nine minutes."
