Chapter 12 - The Silicon SiegeYou do not fight a shadow syndicate by playing defense. By the time you build a wall, they have already poisoned the air you breathe.

Within two hours, Adrian’s elite private military contractors had executed a flawless, silent sweep of our estate. The four mercenaries Silas had stationed in the woods were neutralized with suppressed tranquilizers and detained in a black-site holding facility before they even knew they were being hunted. Lily was entirely safe, completely oblivious to the danger, drinking hot cocoa by the fireplace.
But neutralizing the immediate threat wasn't enough. I needed to annihilate the source.
By midnight, the executive floor of Callahan Industries in Manhattan was a militarized cyber-intelligence bunker. Elias, our lead hacker, was tearing through the global satellite grid, tracking the IP ping from Silas’s video call.
"Silas isn't hiding in a foreign country," Elias reported, his fingers flying across the keyboard. "He’s arrogant. He’s operating out of a decommissioned Cold War bunker in the Nevada desert. It’s entirely off the grid. No internet connection. He routed that video call through a localized, encrypted microwave transmitter."
"He thinks he’s untouchable because he’s analog," Adrian noted, projecting the 3D blueprints of the bunker onto the smart-board. "The facility has blast doors, independent generators, and an internal server farm holding decades of illegal blackmail."
"He wants my encryption to add to his arsenal," I deduced, pacing the length of the Persian rug. "If we call the FBI, Silas will initiate a burn protocol. He’ll destroy his servers and vanish, only to come after us again. We have to trap him inside his own fortress."
"How?" Elias asked, his eyes wide with shock. "The bunker is impenetrable."
"No fortress is impenetrable," I smiled—a cold, terrifying expression. "Elias, Silas demanded that I transfer the root access of the quantum grid to his servers by tomorrow morning. He assumes I will use a direct satellite uplink to send the data to his microwave receiver."
"You want to send him the data?" Adrian asked, his brilliant mind instantly catching up to my strategy.
"I want to send him a mirror," I corrected softly. "Elias, I want you to package a massive, self-replicating digital virus and disguise it as the quantum root code. When Silas downloads the file into his closed-loop bunker, the virus will deploy. It won't just crash his servers. It will rewrite his automated security grid."

"We can lock the blast doors from the inside," Elias gasped, realizing the sheer genius of the plan. "We can trap him in the bunker."
"And once he’s trapped," I whispered, pulling my tailored coat over my shoulders, "Adrian and I are going to pay the Director a visit."
