Chapter 4 - The Power-Flip

The heavy wooden door of Room 512 was kicked open.
Three of Moretti’s elite assassins spilled into the room, their suppressed rifles raised, sweeping the darkness with thermal optics. They expected to find a fragile, terrified teenager crying in a hospital bed.
Instead, the lights in the room suddenly blazed to life, blinding them instantly.
Elena sat perfectly still in the center of the room in her wheelchair. Luca stood directly behind her, his weapon leveled squarely at the chest of the lead assassin.
"Drop them," Luca commanded, his voice vibrating with absolute, unyielding authority.
The lead assassin sneered, recovering his vision. "You're outnumbered, Mancini. Moretti sends his regards. We take the girl, and you get to watch."
"Moretti isn't sending anything," Elena interrupted. Her voice was terrifyingly calm, carrying a sophisticated authority that shattered the men's expectations.
The assassins hesitated, looking at the teenage girl as if she had lost her mind.
Elena turned the tablet around so they could see the screen. It was displaying a live, decrypted feed of the Cayman Islands offshore banking network. Specifically, it was displaying the primary routing accounts for the Moretti syndicate.
"While I was recovering from internal bleeding," Elena said, her tone dripping with condescension, "I spent the last forty-eight hours accessing the digital backdoor my mother built into Moretti's logistics network eighteen years ago. You see, gentlemen, Victor Moretti is a dinosaur who doesn't understand cyber-security."
She pressed a single button on the screen.
"I just authorized a complete, irrevocable wire transfer of Moretti's entire liquid asset portfolio into a blind trust managed by the federal government," Elena stated coldly. "Every single dollar he uses to pay your retainers, bribe your judges, and fund your weapons just vanished. Your boss isn't a crime lord anymore. As of ten seconds ago, he is a bankrupt, desperate old man waiting to be arrested."

The assassins stared at the screen in absolute, paralyzed horror. The numbers on Moretti’s accounts were literally dropping to zero before their eyes.
"Now," Elena said, folding her hands in her lap, projecting the aura of a true mafia queen. "You can either try to shoot my father and die in this room for a man who can no longer pay your salaries... or you can drop your weapons, walk out of this hospital, and disappear before the FBI raids your safehouses. Choose quickly. My patience is running thin."
