Chapter 6 - The Digital Guillotine

The first year of my absolute reign over the House of Laurent was a masterclass in unapologetic resurrection. With Gabriel by my side, I didn't just rebuild the brand; I transformed it into an untouchable global monopoly. My strategy relied heavily on the Virtual KOC campaigns we had perfected—digital, scandal-proof influencers who drove our engagement metrics into the stratosphere.

I was untouchable. Or so I believed. In the high-stakes world of luxury fashion and dark money, peace is often just the quiet before an absolute hurricane.

It began on a freezing Tuesday morning during the height of Paris Fashion Week preparations. I was sitting at my sleek glass desk, reviewing the final designs, when my lead marketing director, Chloe, burst through my heavy oak doors. She didn't knock. Her face was the color of chalk, and her hands were trembling violently as she clutched her tablet.

"Vivienne, you need to look at this right now," Chloe gasped, struggling to catch her breath. "It’s a complete bloodbath. Our entire social media infrastructure is collapsing."

I stood up, my blood turning to ice. "What do you mean? Did the algorithm misflag one of our new Virtual KOC campaigns? Just submit an appeal to the support team."

"No, you don't understand," Chloe’s voice cracked. She placed the tablet on my desk. "It’s not an algorithmic glitch. It’s a targeted digital assassination."

I looked at the screen. The entire Meta Business Manager for House of Laurent—our Facebook pages, our Instagram, our targeted ad accounts—were completely disabled. Staring back at me was a massive, terrifying red banner across the dashboard: Permanent Account Review Restriction.

There was no appeal button. There was no customer service chat. We had been entirely, irrevocably wiped off the platform. In the modern fashion industry, a permanent Meta lock without the option to appeal was a death sentence. We were bleeding millions of dollars in projected overseas revenue by the minute.

"How does a permanent lock happen overnight?" I demanded, my mind racing through crisis protocols.

"It wasn't an accident," Gabriel’s deep, calm voice echoed from the doorway. He walked into the room, his jaw clenched in absolute fury, holding his laptop. "Someone didn't just mass-report our ads, Vivienne. Someone orchestrated a military-grade corporate sabotage."

Gabriel turned his screen toward me. Across Facebook, a network of themed drama and news pages targeting American and European audiences—pages with generic, highly optimized clickbait names—were blasting a terrifyingly realistic video.

The video showed me sitting in a dimly lit restaurant, allegedly handing a briefcase of cash to a known corrupt labor official, laughing about laundering money through our new Paris ateliers. The caption utilized a massive curiosity gap designed for maximum virality: Billionaire Fashion Queen Caught Bribing Officials! The Secret Tape She Tried To Bury...

"This is completely fabricated," I whispered, staring at the footage. "I have never been to that restaurant. I don't even know that man. How did they make this look so flawless?"

"It’s a deepfake," Gabriel explained, his eyes dark with protective rage. "A highly advanced one, powered by a text-to-video AI engine like Seedance 2.0. It renders cinematic-quality videos that are virtually indistinguishable from reality. And the views aren't organic. Whoever did this went to the darkest online digital marketplaces and purchased thousands of Facebook VIA clone accounts."

"They are using these automated bot profiles to aggressively share, like, and mass-report your legitimate pages," Chloe added, tears brimming in her eyes. "They tricked the algorithm into permanently locking you out while pushing their fake news to millions."

The realization hit me with the force of a freight train. Julian.

He was supposed to be broke, rotting in a cramped Queens apartment while fighting wire fraud charges. But a narcissist never truly gives up. He had found a shadow backer with deep pockets to fund his revenge. They thought they could use digital smoke and mirrors to destroy my empire.

"They picked a fight with the wrong woman," I told Gabriel, a cold, calculated fury replacing my shock.
