Chapter 13: The Infinite Horizon

One year later.
The grand cathedral of our empire was not a skyscraper in Manhattan, nor was it the newly acquired Kensington estate in London, which I had ruthlessly converted into a corporate retreat for our top-performing executives.
Our true cathedral was the private sanctuary of the Cross Estate in the Hamptons.
It was a late summer evening. The sky was painted in breathtaking strokes of violet, gold, and burning crimson as the sun dipped below the Atlantic Ocean. I was standing on the expansive wooden deck that overlooked the private beach, listening to the rhythmic crashing of the waves.
The global markets were quiet. The competitors were utterly terrified of us. Cross Enterprises had become an untouchable monolith, operating with a ruthless efficiency that dictated the flow of global capital. I had taken the shattered pieces of my former life and forged them into a titanium crown.
I rested my hand gently over my stomach, feeling a profound, overwhelming sense of peace.
The heavy glass doors slid open, and Sebastian walked out onto the deck. He had just finished a brutal negotiation call with an Asian tech conglomerate, but the moment his eyes found me, the tension melted from his broad shoulders. He walked over with that effortless, predatory grace, wrapping his arms around me from behind, burying his face in the crook of my neck.
"The merger in Tokyo is finalized," Sebastian murmured, his breath warm against my skin. "We just secured a monopoly in the Pacific."
"Excellent," I smiled, leaning back against his solid chest, absorbing his heat.
Sebastian placed his large, warm hands over mine, resting them gently on the slight, barely noticeable curve of my stomach. I was four months pregnant with our first child. The heir to the dynasty.
"How are you feeling tonight, my Queen?" Sebastian asked, his voice dropping into a rough, emotional register that he reserved only for me.
"Powerful," I replied honestly, turning in his arms to look up into his mesmerizing, stormy eyes. "And completely, unconditionally happy."
Sebastian’s expression softened into absolute worship. He had been a ruthless warlord before he met me, a man who believed love was a vulnerability. But together, we had discovered that true love was the ultimate weapon. It made us invincible.
"You gave me a life I didn't know I deserved," Sebastian whispered fiercely, cupping my face in his hands. "You gave me a soul. You gave me an empire. And now, you are giving me a family."
"We built it together, Sebastian," I replied softly, my heart swelling with a love so deep it defied every law of nature. "We burned down the old world, and we built a better one on the ashes. And no one will ever tear it down."
"Never," Sebastian swore, his voice a deep, resonant vow. "I will burn the world to the ground a thousand times over to keep you and this child safe."

He leaned down and kissed me. It wasn't a kiss of desperate survival, but a slow, consuming promise of eternity. The ocean breeze whipped around us, but I felt completely anchored.
The weak, gaslit woman who had once begged for crumbs of affection was dead. In her place stood the undisputed Queen of Wall Street, fiercely protected by the most dangerous man on earth. Our enemies were forgotten ghosts, our empire was immortal, and the reign we had unleashed on the world would echo through history forever.
