Chapter 10 - The BlueprintSix months later, the toxic legacy of the Sterling family was permanently erased from the earth.

Julian was sentenced to five years in federal prison for wire fraud and extortion. Beatrice, bankrupted by Vance’s collapse, was forced to move into a tiny, state-assisted living facility, her high-society dreams entirely reduced to ash.

I was standing barefoot on a pristine, untouched plot of land overlooking the cliffs of Big Sur. The California sun was setting, painting the sky in brilliant strokes of gold and violet.

Thomas walked up behind me, wrapping his strong, warm arms around my waist. He rested his chin on my shoulder, looking out at the endless horizon.

“The permits just cleared,” he murmured, pressing a soft kiss to my temple. “The land is officially yours, Evelyn.”

He handed me a roll of thick, architectural paper. I unrolled it against the hood of my vintage Mustang. It was a blueprint. Not just any blueprint, but the exact home we had spent the last three months designing together. A sprawling, modern sanctuary made of glass, steel, and warm timber.

“It’s flawless, Thomas,” I smiled, tracing my fingers over the intricate lines of the drawing.

“It needs one more thing,” he said softly.

I turned around. Thomas wasn't on one knee—he knew I didn't need a grand, dramatic display of submission. Instead, he was standing tall, looking at me with unwavering love and total respect. He pulled a small, sleek velvet box from his jacket and opened it. Inside was a stunning, custom-cut diamond ring, set in a band of solid titanium.

“I don't want to manage you, Evelyn. I don't want to control your empire,” Thomas said, his voice deep and steady. “I just want to build a life beside you. Will you marry me?”

I looked at the ring, then at the brilliant, kind man who had never once been intimidated by my fire. I had survived the freezing water. I had burned the toxic shadows to the ground. And now, I had found my equal.

“Yes,” I whispered, sliding the ring onto my finger.

It was a perfect fit. Just like the life I had finally, permanently claimed as my own.

How would you like Evelyn's story to continue—should we explore her taking on international markets next, or focus on the new life she builds with Thomas?
