Chapter 8 - The Silicon Valley ExpoThe Global Tech Automotive Expo in San Francisco was the premier event of the year. The massive convention center was packed with industry titans, venture capitalists, and the relentless flash of press cameras.

Evelyn Holdings had the center stage. We were scheduled to unveil our V2 quantum diagnostic system. I was wearing a razor-sharp, emerald green tailored suit, exuding absolute authority.
As I stepped off the stage after the initial walkthrough, a familiar, grating voice cut through the crowd.
“Enjoy the spotlight while it lasts, Evelyn.”
I turned around. Julian stood there, wearing a shiny, ill-fitting suit that looked like he bought it off the rack in a panic. Next to him was a man I instantly recognized: Vance Sterling, a disgraced hedge fund manager and a distant, estranged cousin of Julian’s toxic family. Vance had the capital. Julian had the vendetta.
“Julian,” I said, my voice cool and thoroughly unimpressed. “I’m surprised security let you past the loading dock.”
Julian’s face flushed red. “You always were an arrogant bitch. But you’re done. Vance and I just cornered your supply chain. We bought out your diagnostic chip suppliers, and we heavily invested in your European merger. We own you. Tomorrow morning, we’re announcing a hostile takeover.”
Vance smirked, swirling a glass of whiskey. “Nothing personal, sweetheart. Just business. We’re going to strip your company for parts.”
I looked at them. Two weak, pathetic men desperately trying to intimidate a woman who had already walked through fire.
“You bought the V1 supply chain, Vance,” I said softly, stepping into his personal space. The smirk on his face instantly faltered. “Those chips are obsolete. I patented the V2 quantum chips three days ago with a private manufacturer in South Korea. The factories you bought are worthless.”

Julian stepped back, his eyes widening in panic. “That’s a lie. We saw the internal files!”
“You saw the files I let your fraternity mole steal,” I corrected, my eyes locking onto Julian’s with terrifying intensity. “Just like the European merger. It doesn't exist. You heavily leveraged your hedge fund on a phantom deal, Vance. When the market opens tomorrow and realizes there is no merger, your stock will plummet to pennies.”
