Chapter 4 - The Fall of the Whitmore Empire

Marcus stared at the blue envelope as if a ghost had just materialized on the table.

"You don't know what you're doing, Adrian," Marcus hissed, abandoning the facade of the benevolent uncle. He stood up, leaning over the table like a cornered animal. "If you open that envelope, the stock plummets. The company goes bankrupt. You will lose your fortune. We are family!"

"You aren't my family," Adrian said with absolute disgust. "You are a murderer."

Adrian pressed a button on a remote control in his hand. The massive presentation screens behind Marcus flickered to life, instantly projecting the digitized contents of Daniel's safety reports. The forged steel manifests, the fake invoices, and the deliberate structural sabotage were displayed in high-definition for every executive in the room to see.

"I spent all night verifying these documents with an independent structural engineering firm," Adrian announced to the horrified board members. "Marcus embezzled fifty million dollars and orchestrated the death of an innocent man to cover his tracks. He then extorted his widow, forcing her into poverty and servitude to silence her."

Marcus lunged across the room toward the doors. "Security! Get them out of here!"

The double doors swung open, but it wasn't corporate security.

Six federal agents from the FBI’s white-collar crime division walked into the boardroom, flanked by local police.

"Marcus Whitmore," the lead agent announced, flashing a badge. "You are under arrest for corporate manslaughter, grand larceny, wire fraud, and extortion. Put your hands behind your back."

Marcus thrashed and cursed, screaming that Adrian had destroyed their legacy as the cuffs were locked onto his wrists. Victor Sterling, who had been hiding in his office down the hall, was dragged past the glass walls a moment later, weeping openly.

Adrian watched them go, feeling a profound, heavy weight lift from his shoulders. He turned to Marissa, who was watching the men who had tormented her for four years being hauled away in chains. Tears of sheer relief streamed down her face.

"It's over," Adrian said softly.
