Chapter 8 - The Digital Execution

I did not retreat to a corner and cry. I turned the entire forty-second floor of Vanguard Financial into a heavily fortified digital command center.
"They are using a network of offshore proxy servers to distribute the forged dossier to the press," our lead cybersecurity engineer reported, his fingers flying across his keyboard. "If the news outlets publish this at the morning bell, our stock will plummet."
"They won't publish it," I stated, walking up behind him. "Because we are going to discredit the source before they even hit print."
I authorized the immediate deployment of the very technology Vanguard was acquiring. We utilized our new, bleeding-edge Virtual KOC architecture—a fleet of hyper-realistic, AI-generated consumer profiles that we normally used for brand marketing. But tonight, they were a digital army.
We didn't hack Sophie. We simply overwhelmed the algorithm.
My team flooded the same anonymous tip lines and journalistic back-channels that Sophie was using. But instead of sending press releases, our Virtual KOC network distributed the raw, unedited metadata of the forged dossier. We provided irrefutable, cryptographic proof that the documents had been synthetically manipulated on a specific IP address registered to Marcus Vance’s shell company.
But I didn't stop at corporate defense. I wanted the viper's head.
"Trace the secondary IP address," I ordered. "The one that actively sent the emails to Marcus."
Ten minutes later, the screen flashed green. The location data locked onto a cheap, rundown apartment complex on the outskirts of South Boston. It was the exact address my parents had told me Sophie was currently living in.
"We have them," Michael said, stepping up beside me and resting a heavy, reassuring hand on my shoulder. "I’m calling the FBI. This is federal corporate extortion and wire fraud."

"Do it," I whispered, staring at the blinking red dot on the map.
I watched as the digital trap closed perfectly around my sister's throat. She had thought she was a master manipulator. She had thought she could destroy my empire with a few forged documents. She failed to realize that when you declare war on a woman who controls the architecture of the internet, you don't just lose the battle. You lose your entire existence.
