Chapter 10 - The Titanium Queen

The fallout was a spectacular, coordinated slaughter of the global shadow economy.
By sunrise the next day, Eleanor’s trust was permanently seized and liquidated by the federal government. The massive data leak I had engineered proved undeniably that the corporate assets belonged solely to the legitimate entity I controlled. The legal challenges evaporated into thin air. Eleanor was denied bail, destined to spend the rest of her natural life in a federal supermax facility, rotting in a cell just like her son.
Six months later, the crisp spring breeze swept across the sprawling, manicured lawns of our estate. The toxic fallout of the Sterling family was nothing but a footnote in the incredible, unstoppable history of my life.
I stood on the back patio, the golden afternoon sunlight warming my skin. The nightmare was truly, finally over.
I walked inside, stepping into the warm, glowing heart of my home. In our flawless, custom-built kitchen, David was laughing. He was lifting a giggling, energetic Maya onto the granite counter to help him frost a massive chocolate cake for her ninth birthday. Her dark eyes were bright, fierce, and completely unshadowed by the ghosts of her past.
David looked up, catching my eye. He wiped a smudge of frosting from his cheek and walked over to me, wrapping his strong arms around my waist and pulling me flush against his solid, comforting chest. He rested his chin on my shoulder, looking at the beautiful, chaotic joy we had cultivated.
"The final SEC clearances just came through," David murmured, pressing a soft kiss to my temple. "The company is completely unburdened. We are untouchable."
"It's perfect," I smiled, leaning my head against his shoulder, listening to the steady, powerful rhythm of his heart.
David turned me around to face him. His dark eyes softened with a profound, overwhelming love that still took my breath away. He gently reached into his pocket and pulled out a sleek velvet box. Inside was a stunning, custom-cut diamond ring, set in a band of solid titanium.
"You built a fortress, Sarah," David said, his voice thick with raw, beautiful emotion. "But I want to build a forever. Will you marry me?"
"We built a kingdom, David," I corrected softly, stepping up on my toes to look deeply into his eyes as I slid the ring onto my finger. "And yes. Always yes."

As I pulled my brilliant, fiercely loyal partner in for a deep, passionate kiss, surrounded by the beautiful, indestructible life we had bled to build, the world around us crystallized into absolute perfection. I had walked through hell. I had been battered by abuse, targeted by corrupt dynasties, and hunted by the darkest predators in the world. But I had not burned. I had taken the fear that Marcus tried to drown me in, and I had used it to forge a titanium spine.
The monsters were permanently locked away in concrete cells. The digital phantoms were erased. A mother’s fear had transformed into an unbreakable crown, and our beautiful, victorious world was finally, eternally at peace.
