Chapter 13 - The Honeypot TrapThe digital snare was set with terrifying precision. By 4:00 PM, the wire transfer for thirty million dollars was sitting in the escrow account, tagged with the forensic tracking code Tobias had embedded deep within the transaction metadata.

Cassandra Vance was arrogant. She was a member of the European elite who viewed American corporate law as a playground for the wealthy. True to form, the moment her financial officers saw the thirty million dollars hit the escrow holding bin, her ego blinded her to the digital tripwire.
At 6:00 PM, my private office phone rang. The caller ID displayed a private Swiss exchange.
I answered it on the second ring, keeping my voice completely neutral. "Elena Sterling."
"Mrs. Sterling," Cassandra Vance’s voice echoed through the speaker. It was cold, aristocratic, and dripping with venomous amusement. "I must admit, I am profoundly disappointed. I expected a protracted legal battle, yet here you are, quietly surrendering to my terms before the midnight bell even tolls. How utterly predictable."
"Business is business, Ms. Vance," I replied smoothly, leaning back in my leather chair. "When you hold all the cards, the only logical move is to fold."
"You never held a card, my dear," Cassandra laughed softly. "The Sterling Shipyard was built on blood and stolen tech. It belongs to the Vance family by right of conquest. Consider this thirty million dollars an extraction fee for the privilege of leasing your own docks for the next few weeks until I formally liquidate the remainder of your corporate structure."
"You are welcome to come and try to liquidate us yourself, Cassandra," I said, a dangerous edge creeping into my tone. "Why don't you fly in from Geneva? We can discuss the final paperwork face-to-face."
"Oh, I wouldn't miss it for the world," Cassandra purred. "I am hosting the annual Atlantic Maritime Gala at the Waldorf Astoria in New York tomorrow night. All the major industry titans will be in attendance. I will personally announce the acquisition of your global shipping routes from the main stage. Be there, Mrs. Sterling. Bring your checkbook."
The line clicked dead.
I set the phone down on the desk and looked across the room at Tobias and Marcus.
"She took the bait," Tobias confirmed, watching his terminal screen as a series of automated alerts flashed green. "The escrow transfer was accepted on her end. The smart-contract payload has successfully executed. Every single primary subsidiary account linked to Apex Maritime Holdings has just been hit with an emergency federal freeze by the Department of Justice."
Marcus stood up, cracking his knuckles with a quiet, menacing satisfaction. "Which means Cassandra Vance is currently sitting in Geneva, or on her private jet crossing the Atlantic, completely unaware that she is legally bankrupt and facing immediate arrest the moment she steps foot on American soil."
"She invited us to her gala in New York tomorrow night," I said, standing up and buttoning my blazer. "We are going to RSVP."

"What are we wearing?" Marcus asked, a wicked grin spreading across his face.
"Armor," I replied.
