Chapter 3 - The Black Widow's Web

We spent the next forty-eight hours dismantling Garrett’s financial safety net with surgical precision. Tobias wasn't just a patient observer; he was a master hacker who had spent a decade compromising the digital infrastructure of Garrett’s family operations.

Sitting in the dim light of the warehouse, I authorized Tobias to use my biometric bypass codes—codes Garrett thought were lost at the bottom of Savannah Creek.

"I'm in the Swiss accounts," Tobias announced, his fingers flying across the glowing keyboard. "Penelope’s offshore trusts are fully exposed. What do you want to do?"

"Drain them," I ordered without a second of hesitation. "Every single penny they stole from the shipyard over the last three years. Reroute it back into the Sterling family foundation. Leave them with exactly zero."

I watched the screen as millions of dollars instantly vanished from Garrett and Penelope’s secret haven. They had killed for this money. They had poisoned me, betrayed our family, and murdered our parents for a fortune they would never get to touch.

But financial ruin wasn't enough. I wanted them to suffer the exact public humiliation they had banked on using against my memory.

I made a secure call to Marcus Vance, the shipyard’s head of security, a man whose loyalty to my father was absolute. When Marcus heard my voice, he wept. I gave him a set of highly specific, classified instructions. We were going to turn the memorial service into a steel trap.

On Thursday night, I stood in front of a mirror in the safe house. Tobias handed me a tailored, midnight-black designer suit. I slipped it on, buttoning the jacket over a crisp white shirt. I applied my makeup with a steady hand, painting my lips a deep, blood-red. The woman in the mirror was not the tired, exhausted wife who drank warm milk to fall asleep. She was the CEO of Sterling Shipyards, and she was going to war.

"Are you ready?" Tobias asked, wearing a sharp charcoal suit, standing tall and imposing.

"I've never been more ready for anything in my life," I replied.
