Chapter 3 - Weaponizing the Network

Sterling’s reaction was immediate and explosive. Realizing his bank accounts were frozen, he unleashed his crisis management team. They began planting blind items in D.C. gossip blogs, painting me as a hysterical, hormonally unbalanced pregnant woman who had kidnapped his children and stolen his documents in a paranoid frenzy.
Sloane, completely drunk on her own hubris, posted a heavily filtered photo on Instagram standing in my former kitchen, holding a mug that said 'Stepmom Life.'
It was time to test the true power of my digital empire.
I didn't need to hire a PR firm to fight back. I was the media. Using the sophisticated social media arbitrage network I had built, I launched a highly targeted, localized ad campaign across the entire D.C. metro area. I utilized the massive traffic volume I had procured, adhering perfectly to platform standards, to push a series of meticulously sourced investigative articles published by a proxy news site I controlled.
The articles didn't sound like a bitter ex-wife. They read like Pulitzer-level journalism. They detailed Sterling’s offshore lobbying corruption, his financial extortion of his pregnant wife, and the exact paper trail of the funds he used to buy Sloane’s emerald gown.
The campaign went violently viral. Within hours, the articles were generating millions of impressions. My AdX revenue skyrocketed off the traffic, effectively meaning Sterling’s public destruction was actively paying for my maternity leave.

Sloane’s Instagram comments were flooded with pure, unadulterated internet wrath. She was forced to deactivate her account by sunset. Sterling’s political clients, terrified of the viral exposure, began dropping his firm like flies.
He had tried to control the narrative in a small dining room. I controlled the algorithm of the entire eastern seaboard.
