Chapter 5 - The Delivery and the Dawn

One week later, in the quiet, sun-drenched private suite of a boutique maternity hospital, I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy named Leo.
There was no screaming. There was no chaos. And most importantly, there was no Sterling.
I held my newborn son against my chest, surrounded by the scent of fresh lavender and the soft hum of classical music. Owen and Lily sat on the edge of my bed, gently stroking their new brother's tiny fingers, their faces glowing with pure, unshadowed joy. They were safe. They were happy. The crushing, suffocating tension that used to dictate our lives was completely gone.
As I rested, my phone buzzed on the bedside table. It was a news alert.
Prominent D.C. Fixer Sterling Vance Indicted on Federal Tax Evasion and Wire Fraud Charges.
The accompanying photo showed Sterling being escorted out of his Georgetown mansion in handcuffs by federal agents. The empire he had used as a weapon to terrorize his family had been completely dismantled. Sloane had officially fled the state, trying desperately to distance herself from the radioactive fallout.
I locked the screen on my phone and set it down.

I looked at my three children, the beautiful, unbreakable family I had protected with my own two hands. I had survived the gaslighting, the financial abuse, and the ultimate betrayal. I had taken the worst moment of my life and turned it into the foundation of my absolute freedom.
I kissed the top of Leo's head, breathing in the sweet, perfect scent of a new beginning. I wasn't just a survivor. I was a CEO, a mother, and an architect of my own destiny. And as the morning sun streamed through the hospital window, I knew with absolute certainty that our beautiful life was just beginning.
