Chapter 15 - The Empire of LightThe wedding was not a massive, ostentatious affair designed to impress billionaires or secure corporate alliances. It was an intimate, beautiful celebration held right in the backyard of our Pennsylvania farmhouse.

Underneath a sprawling oak tree adorned with cascading white orchids and fairy lights, I stood in a flowing, custom-designed silk gown. There were no press. There were no treacherous board members or parasitic socialites. Just our closest, most loyal friends, my father, and the man who had handed me a sword when the rest of the world expected me to bleed.
Maya stood beside me as the flower girl, wearing a tiny white dress and a crown of fresh jasmine.
Harrison waited for me at the altar, looking like a god in his bespoke tuxedo. When his eyes met mine, the rest of the world simply melted away.
As I walked toward him, I didn't think about Andrew, or Eleanor, or the billions of dollars I had stripped from their hands. I thought about the woman I had become. The weak, accommodating wife who had cried in a Manhattan penthouse was a ghost, buried permanently in the ashes of the past. The queen had taken her throne, forged in fire and absolute resilience.
My father kissed my cheek and placed my hand in Harrison’s. His grip was strong, familiar, and eternal.
"To unbreakable empires," Harrison whispered, repeating the vow he had made to me so many months ago in a crowded ballroom.
"To us," I replied, my heart swelling with profound, unshakable joy.
We exchanged our vows under the open sky. They were not promises of traditional obedience. They were vows of absolute loyalty, of building a future that no one could ever tear down, of standing back-to-back against whatever storms the world dared to send our way.
When the officiant pronounced us husband and wife, Harrison pulled me flush against his chest and kissed me with a fierce, passionate possession that sent a shockwave of electricity straight to my core. Our friends erupted into joyous cheers, and Maya ran forward, throwing her arms around our legs.
Later that evening, the reception was a masterpiece of warmth and laughter. Harrison and I stood on the edge of the wooden porch, looking out over the glittering, endless expanse of the starlit fields.
Harrison wrapped his strong arms around me from behind, resting his hands gently over my waist.
"We won," Harrison murmured, kissing the side of my head. "The world is entirely yours."
I leaned back against his solid chest, looking out at the endless horizon.

The monsters were locked in cages. The shadows were permanently excised from our lives. I looked at my husband. I watched my daughter dancing on the grass with my father. I looked at the beautiful, untouchable world that lay entirely at my feet.
I was victorious. I was free. And this beautiful, brilliant empire of light was going to last forever.
